In fungi and higher eukaryotes, this less abundant phosphoinositide is present in the endosomal and lysosomal membranes. Inositol phospholipid species are membrane-bound signaling molecules that have been implicated in almost all aspects of cellular physiology, including cellular growth, metabolism, proliferation, and survival. |
