PTPN1 (Protein tyrosine phosphatase) is a non-receptor type 1 protein belonging to the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family. It was the first identified protein of this family. Generally, it is involved in cell growth, differentiation and cell division (mitosis). PTPN1 dephosphorylates insulin receptor, JAK2 and TYK2 kinases. It also negatively regulates cell signaling mediated by these proteins. It has been reported that PTPN1 may be associated with type 2 diabetes (T2D).
