| General description【一般描述】 | PDLIM5 (PDZ and LIM domain 5) is a LIM domain containing protein consisting of an N-terminal PDZ (post-synaptic density-95/discs large/zone occludens-1) domain and three C-terminal LIM (Lin-11 Isl-1 mec03) domains. It is ubiquitously expressed in the brain. Cysteine-rich LIM domains are double zinc fingers type, which participates in the protein-protein interactions. |

| Biochem/physiol Actions【生化/生理作用】 | PDLIM5 protein belongs to a family of scaffold proteins characterized by the presence of a PDZ domain at the N terminus and 1-3 LIM domains at the C terminus. PDLIM5 localizes protein kinases to the Z-disk in striated muscles and regulates the expansion of cardiomyocytes. It negatively regulates postsynaptic excitatory synapses and is a candidate gene for bipolar disorders. |
