| General description【一般描述】 | DFFA (DNA fragmentation factor, α polypeptide) is a heterodimeric 45kDa protein mapped on chromosome location 1p36.2-36.3. It is localized to the chromatin fraction under both the conditions, apoptotic and non-apoptotic state. Its expression also has been found in neuroblastoma (NB) cell lines. |

| Biochem/physiol Actions【生化/生理作用】 | DFFA (DNA fragmentation factor, α polypeptide) functions as a chaperone of DNA fragmentation factor 40 (DFF40) in apoptosis and balancing genomic stability. The activity of DFF is induced by cleavage of DFFA by caspase-3, resulting in release of DFF40, which degrades chromosomal DNA. During menstruation, the apoptosis of endometrium cells is associated with DFFA activation. DFFA expression decreases after menopause. DFFA is a target of miR-145. |
