SETDB1 was identified through its interaction with ERG (ets-related gene) and KAP1 (KRAB-associated protein1) and was later demonstrated to interact with HDAC1/2 (histone deacetylase 1/2), DNA methyltransferase 3s (DNMT3s), mSin3A/3B, HP1, and MBD1. SETDB1 is suggested to play a role in transcriptional repression important to early development. |
