| Biochem/physiol Actions【生化/生理作用】 | GCM1 (glial cells missing homolog 1) is a transcription factor that is specific for placenta. It plays an important role in trophoblast cell fusion and invasion by enhancing the expression of syncytin-1 and syncytin-2 fusogenic proteins and high-temperature requirement protein A4 (HtrA4), a serine protease. Disruption in the activity of this gene can result in defective placental development, thereby leading to embryonic death. |
