GAD65 is present in the synaptic vesicles. GAD2 is mapped to human chromosome 10p12.1. It has an N-terminal pyridoxal 5′-phosphate (PLP) binding −domain. |

| Biochem/physiol Actions【生化/生理作用】 | Glutamate decarboxylase 2 (GAD2) protein GAD65 catalyzes the formation of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) from glutamic acid. Palmitoylation of GAD65 is crucial for protein sorting in synaptic clusters. GAD65 autoantigen is prevalent in type 1 diabetes. Its expression increases on allergen exposure. GAD65, along with γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA), may play a key role in the pathogenesis of asthma. |
