| General description【一般描述】 | Ferritin is the major intracellular iron storage protein in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. This gene encodes the light subunit of the ferritin protein. It is composed of 24 subunits of the heavy and light ferritin chains.(provided by RefSeq). In humans, the heavy H and the light L chains are made up of 183 and 175 amino acids, respectively. FTL (ferritin) is a heteropolymer, located on human chromosome 19q13. Ferritins centralize iron in their inner compartment as a bioavailable iron oxide biomineral. |
